SPECIALTY BASE FLUIDS AND GREASES

Polyphenyl Ethers (PPEs) are resistant to ionizing radiation. We offer a number of PPE-based products for use as Radiation Resistant High-temperature Fluids and Greases. Lubricants derived from our base fluids are suitable for use in machinery operating in and around short-wavelength, highly energetic ionizing radiation environment. Ionizing radiation, such as gamma rays, x-rays, and subatomic charged particles shear carbon hydrogen bonds in most lubricants to form ions that recombine to form structurally different molecules. These molecules typically have higher viscosity and as a consequence are not effective lubricants. On the other hand, polyphenyl ether derived lubricants maintain their structural integrity in the presence of ionizing radiation of up to 1011 ergs/gram, while other hydrocarbon-based lubricants turn to viscous gels. Therefore, PPE based lubricants are widely used in nuclear power plants, space satellites, nuclear submarines, food sterilization equipment, radiation chemistry laboratories and medical imaging systems. Our PPE-based greases are useful in applications that require thermal and ionizing radiation resistance but can not use liquid lubricants because of their high fluidity and concern for contamination. SANTOLUBE OS-105

High-Temperature Radiation-resistant Base Fluid

SANTOLUBE OS-105 is a diphenyl ether derivative with exceptionally low volatility, good broad-temperature properties, and resistance to degradation from heat, oxygen, radiation, and chemical attack. SANTOLUBE OS-105 is therefore suitable for use in designing lubricants for high-temperature and adverse environments. In addition, this base fluid is compatible with most metals, plastics, and elastomers. SANTOLUBE 105 is considered essentially nontoxic, especially when proper hygienic practices are employed.

SANTOLUBE OS-124

High-Temperature Radiation-resistant Base Fluid

SANTOLUBE OS-124 is a polyphenyl ether with exceptionally low volatility and resistance to degradation from heat, oxygen, radiation, and chemical attack. It is therefore well-suited for use in designing lubricants for applications that experience extreme temperatures and other adverse environments. In addition, SANTOLUBE OS124 is compatible with most metals, plastics, and elastomers and is essentially nontoxic, especially when proper hygienic practices are employed.

SANTOLUBE MCS-2408

High-Temperature Base Fluid

SANTOLUBE MCS-2408 is a unique, high performance polyester fluid suitable for use as a base stock for designing lubricants for applications involving prolonged operation at high temperatures. SANTOLUBE MCS-2408 has low viscosity, excellent low temperature properties, and low volatility. These attributes permit its use in a wide range of possible applications.

SANTOVAC 5-GB

Ultra High-Vacuum and High Temperature Grease

SANTOVAC 5-GB Lubricating Grease is a non-melting, high temperature, ultra-high vacuum grease with exceptional resistance to oxidation, radiation, chemical attack, and moisture. The base fluid used in this grease is Polyphenyl Ether (SANTOVAC 5) that has been successfully used for many years in high performance vacuum applications. SANTOVAC 5-GB Grease is also recommended for applications where exposure to extreme chemical environments, radiation, and high temperature is expected.

SANTOLUBE 6-GB

Ultra High-Vacuum and High-Temperature Grease

SANTOVAC 6-GB Lubricating Grease is a non-melting, high temperature, ultra-high vacuum grease with exceptional resistance to oxidation, radiation, chemical attack, and moisture. The base fluid used in this grease is Polyphenyl Ether (SANTOVAC® 5) that has been successfully used for many years in high performance vacuum applications. SANTOVAC 6-GB Grease is also recommended for applications where exposure to extreme chemical environments, radiation, and high temperature is expected.

HIGH-REFRACTIVE INDEX (RI) OPTICAL FLUIDS

Our SantoLight® product line comprises polyphenyl ether based UV transparent optical fluids. They are chemically inert, synthetic polymers designed for sensitive photonic and electro-optic devices. These materials have a high degree of purity and excellent thermo-oxidative stability, ultra-low volatility, and ionizing radiation stability. We offer standard fluids with refractive indices ranging from 1.52 to 1.67, which match the refractive index of Anti-reflection (AR) coatings such as MgF2 and silica. The products listed below have refractive indices of 1.62 and 1.67, respectively.

This product is especially useful in operating environment that requires enhanced oxidation stability and increased protection against rust andcorrosion. Lubricating Fluid; Long-term Rust Preventative and Cleaner

SANTOLUBE RP-907 Lubricating Fluid is barium free, non-staining, and water displacing long-term rust preservative, cleaner, and lubricant. It penetrates and spreads rapidly to applied areas.SANTOLUBEā€œ RP-907 forms a highly protective thin film on ferrous metals, which protects metal surfaces from atmospheric corrosion - even under conditions of high humidity.

This product contains a highly stable synthetic lubricant base stock that is fortified with an effective package to provide both long-term lubrication and corrosion prevention.
